These are called Foo Dogs or Guardian Lions, also known as Shishi or Komainu in East Asian cultures. They are traditional protective statues often placed in pairs at the entrances of buildings, such as temples or homes, to ward off evil spirits. The one on the left typically represents the female (with a cub), and the one on the right represents the male (with a ball).
